As a class teacher at Bristol Steiner School, you will be a skilled, enthusiastic and committed individual in our Primary school. You will have overall responsibility both for the pastoral care of the class and for much of the learning that takes place. Collaboration in each aspects of a child’s journey is key and will require close working with the rest of the teaching team. Essential is a proven ability to relate to and inspire children through their creative delivery of the Steiner education and curriculum. An openness to embracing best practice from other education philosophies will also be required. Relatedness is an integral part of our community. As class teacher you must demonstrate the ability to confidently communicate and cooperate well with all community stakeholders.

Class 1 Assistant
This is an ideal post for prospective class teachers. It provides the opportunity to gain real insight into class teaching, the Steiner approach and the minds of young children. You will be supported by a friendly and helpful community of teachers.
The post is part-time, working 25 hours per week, mornings only, although you may also be expected to join in with some outside school activities. £9.50 per hour - term time only.
For the first term, the role of the Class One/ two Assistant is to support and help the Class and teachers and accompany the class throughout the school morning. After the first term, as the children settle into Main School Life, the assistant may be asked to help and support other classes as required.
This may involve routine duties such as setting up the classroom before lessons start, preparing food for breaktime, and tidying up at the end of the morning.
You will work with the class during both Main Lesson and Subject Lessons. This will include joining in with ring time, assisting with discipline, supervising children outdoors, taking children to the toilet, and helping individual children as necessary, under the guidance and direction of the Teacher.
The Class Assistant may also be required to do general break duties at both break time and lunchtime, take messages to and from the school office, and carry out any additional duties that may be required.
The post holder is expected to become familiar with and follow key school policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality.
