    Main features of the position:

    As a class teacher at Bristol Steiner School, you will be a skilled, enthusiastic and committed individual in our Primary school. You will have overall responsibility both for the pastoral care of the class and for much of the learning that takes place. Collaboration in each aspects of a child’s journey is key and will require close working with the rest of the teaching team. Essential is a proven ability to relate to and inspire children through their creative delivery of the Steiner education and curriculum. An openness to embracing best practice from other education philosophies will also be required. Relatedness is an integral part of our community. As class teacher you must demonstrate the ability to confidently communicate and cooperate well with all community stakeholders.

    Cleaner

    To provide effective and good quality cleaning in a school environment. The successful candidate will clean part of the building each day during term time only.

    • Salary - Negotiable
    • 15 hours per week Monday to Friday after 3.30pm
    • 36 weeks per year term time only.

    • Cleaning experience preferred but training can be given

    Class 1 Assistant

    This is an ideal post for prospective class teachers. It provides the opportunity to gain real insight into class teaching, the Steiner approach and the minds of young children. You will be supported by a friendly and helpful community of teachers.

     

    The post is part-time, working 25 hours per week, mornings only, although you may also be expected to join in with some outside school activities. £9.50 per hour - term time only.

     

    For the first term, the role of the Class One/ two Assistant is to support and help the Class and teachers and accompany the class throughout the school morning. After the first term, as the children settle into Main School Life, the assistant may be asked to help and support other classes as required.

     

    This may involve routine duties such as setting up the classroom before lessons start, preparing food for breaktime, and tidying up at the end of the morning.

     

    You will work with the class during both Main Lesson and Subject Lessons. This will include joining in with ring time, assisting with discipline, supervising children outdoors, taking children to the toilet, and helping individual children as necessary, under the guidance and direction of the Teacher.

     

    The Class Assistant may also be required to do general break duties at both break time and lunchtime, take messages to and from the school office, and carry out any additional duties that may be required.

     

    The post holder is expected to become familiar with and follow key school policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality.

     

    Qualities and skills required for this post:

    • The postholder will have a real interest in Steiner education. The ideal candidate will be enrolled on a Steiner teacher training course, or seriously considering such an option, although this is not essential.
    • Genuine enthusiasm for and understanding of young children
    • Willingness to join in with games and classroom activities
    • Receptive and responsive to direction from teachers
    • Good communication skills
    • Discretion and professionalism at all times
    • Enhanced DBS check with the relevant barred list check
    • Experience of supporting small group interventions

    Spanish Teacher

    Teaching up to 6 lessons (3 classes) per week

    Salary: £18 p/h Negotiable days

    There is a possibility of additional hours in the future.

     

    GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The postholder is expected to be able to teach pupils from age 7-11, and classes are taught in mixed-ability groups so differentiation will be required.

     

    • Ability to follow the School’s Curriculum for Spanish.
    • Ability to offer a positive learning environment giving all the children the opportunity to flourish; to manage classroom behaviour effectively and creatively.
    • It is a requirement to attend the weekly staff meeting.
    • To attend meetings throughout the year connected with the life of the school, whenever possible.
    • All staff are expected to familiarize themselves with the school’s policies and procedures and to follow them. 
    • All staff are expected to be punctual arriving at school and for lessons and duties.
    • There is one annual school report per child. These reports are produced at the end of the summer term and are posted to parents not later than one week after the end of the summer term. Annual, termly and daily lesson plans must be maintained and clear monitoring of children’s progress recorded.
    • A DBS disclosure at enhanced level and checked against the relevant barred list will be required.

    Woodwork Teacher

    Teaching up to 6 lessons (3 classes) per week

    Salary: £18 p/h

    • It is a requirement to attend the weekly staff meeting.
    • To attend meetings throughout the year connected with the life of the school, whenever possible.
    • All staff are expected to familiarize themselves with the school’s policies and procedures and to follow them. 
    • All staff are expected to be punctual arriving at school and for lessons and duties.

    Kindergarten Teacher

    The Bristol Steiner School is looking to expand its Kindergarten setting from three to four classes for 5 days per week, and is seeking a Kindergarten Teacher/Room Lead, who is qualified, with experience of Steiner education and experience of working with children aged 2-3.5.
